Earthquake Today in Delhi NCR: After Delhi, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter Scale hit Siwan, Bihar at 8.02 am on Monday, informed National Center for Seismology.
Earlier a strong earthquake tremors rattled Delhi NCR early morning around 5.35 am. According to National Center for Seismology, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 hit New Delhi at 5.36 am. The depth was 5 km.
“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.0, Occurred on 17-02-24, 5:36 AM IST, Lat: 28.59°N & Long :77.16°E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: 9km E of New Delhi,” NCS posted on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets, “Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.”
At New Delhi railway station, vendor Anish recalls the moment of earthquake. He says, “Everything was shaking… customers started screaming…”
Another passenger awaiting his train at New Delhi railway station said, “We felt like a train was running here underground… Everything was shaking.”
A Ghaziabad resident said, “The tremors were so strong. I have never felt anything like this before. The entire building was shaking.”
“I pray for safety of everyone,” AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal posted on X.
People rushed out of their houses as earthquake tremors hit Delhi-NCR.
Amit, a resident of Noida, recalled, “At 5:35 AM, the entire building started shaking… Our whole family rushed outside. I’ve never experienced such strong earthquake tremors before. Thankfully, we are all safe.”
A passenger waiting for his train at New Delhi railway station recalled, “I was in the waiting lounge when suddenly everyone rushed outside. It felt like a bridge had collapsed…”
