In a concerning incident earlier this month, a judge in Delhi was allegedly threatened with death by two boys in Dwarka’s Kakrola village. According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed on April 16, the judge was walking toward a public school near his residence around 6 PM on April 1 when the incident occurred.
As per the FIR, the judge noticed a Wagon R car stopping about 10 meters behind him and honking four to five times. When he turned around, the non-driver allegedly shouted, “Tu bach kar reh le. Hum goli maar diya karen. Kam bola kar agar jeena chahta hai toh” (Beware. We shoot people. Speak less if you want to live). The car then reportedly sped away in a zig-zag pattern and took a sharp turn, making it difficult for the judge to catch the vehicle’s number plate.
Police investigation begins
The Delhi Police have initiated a probe into the incident and are currently analysing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects. While no arrests have been made so far, the police have stated that they are treating the matter with utmost seriousness, especially in light of the position and vulnerability of the targeted individual.
The incident comes just a day after another troubling episode in the city. On April 2, Judge Shivangi Mangla was threatened and verbally abused inside a Delhi courtroom by a retired government school teacher and his lawyer. The retired teacher, recently convicted in a six-year-old cheque bounce case, allegedly said, “Tu hai kya cheez… tu bahar mil, dekhte hai kaise zinda ghar jaati hai” (You are nothing… come outside, we’ll see how you return home alive).
