Indian Army’s engineer regiment called in for manual drilling at Uttarkashi’s Silkayara tunnel
A unit of Madras Sappers, an engineer group of the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army has been called in at Uttarkashi’s Silkyara tunnel for manual drilling at the site where 41 workers have remained trapped for the past 15 days. 30 personnel of the engineer regiment have arrived at the spot to expedite the rescue operations. For manual drilling, the Indian Army along with civilians will do rat boring inside the tunnel.
Vertical drilling begins at Silkyara tunnel Uttarkashi
Drilling to create a vertical escape route for the 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed tunnel in Silkyara here for two weeks began on Sunday, an official said, a day after an auger machine carrying out horizontal drilling broke down. “Vertical drilling has begun and (a stretch of) up to 15 metres has been drilled already,” NHIDCL MD Mahmood Ahmed told reporters in Silkyara.

Murmu unveils Ambedkar’s statue in Supreme Court on Constitution Day
On Constitution Day, a statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar was unveiled in the Supreme Court grounds by the President Droupadi Murmu. 2 killed in car fire outside Noida high rise
Police stated on Sunday that two males, both 27 years old, were killed when the car they were sitting in outside a Noida high rise caught fire. According to a senior officer, the event occurred Saturday morning in Sector 119. “The car, a hatchback, was parked outside the society at 6.08 a.m., according to CCTV footage.” The automobile was occupied by two males. “At 6.11 a.m., a fire broke out in the car, killing the duo,” stated Additional DCP (Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy.
Tamil Nadu: Water level in Vaigai river rises due to heavy rainfall in Madurai
The water level in the Vaigai River has risen due to heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district on Sunday.
