Days after a Delhi court issued a non-bailable warrant against her, social activist Medha Patkar was arrested by the Delhi Police on Friday. The arrest is linked to her failure to furnish probation bonds in a 24-year-old defamation case filed by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
The case stems from allegations Patkar made during her activism related to the Narmada Bachao Andolan. The court had ordered her to comply with legal formalities, and her continued non-compliance led to the issuance of the NBW earlier this week.
Patkar is expected to be presented before the court for further proceedings.
