A Delhi court adjourned Smriti Irani fake degree case till October 1, wherein it will pronounce its order on whether to summon Union Textile Minister on a complaint filed against her for allegedly giving incorrect information regarding her educational qualification while filing an affidavit to the Election Commission prior to 2014 Lok Sabha election.
A case was filed against Smriti Irani, former Education Minister by a freelance writer Ahmed Khan last year and the court had permitted his plea. The Delhi court then sought direction to Election Commission and Delhi University officials to produce records of Smriti Irani’s qualifications.
Ahmed Khan alleged that Irani had consciously given false information about her academic qualification in affidavits filed prior to 2004 and 2011 elections. Then again in 2014, he alleged that Irani gave discrepant information, without clarification.
