Amid the buzz of infighting in UP BJP, the main Opposition leader, Samajwadi Party’s chief Akhilesh Yadav said the people of the state are fed up with infighting within the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government.

His remarks came against the backdrop of a remark by the Deputy Chief Minister that triggered speculation that all is not well within the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. “The organisation is bigger than the government. No one is bigger than the organisation,” Maurya stated after a meeting of the state BJP working committee on Sunday. The remark was seen as a veiled swipe at UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

Following this, Akhilesh Yadav said at an event, “There is infighting in the government. BJP leaders are fighting among themselves. The people know about the corruption and are fed up with the game of thrones.”

In a post on X in Hindi, Yadav said, “In the heat of BJP’s fight for power, governance and administration in UP has been put on the back burner. The work of sabotage politics that the BJP used to do in other parties, it is now doing the same work inside its own party. That is why the BJP is sinking in the quagmire of internal conflicts.”

“There is no one in BJP who thinks about the public,” Akhilesh Yadav stated.

Responding to the Samajwadi Party chief, Maurya tweeted this afternoon that the BJP’s governments and organisation in the country and the state are strong. “The return of SP’s reign of goons in UP is impossible. BJP will repeat 2017 in the 2027 state polls,” he posted on X.

The Congress, meanwhile, has drawn a Kalyan Singh parallel. “I have an experience of 44 years in UP… The same thing is happening now when Kalyan Singh was removed by the BJP and only time will tell if there is another Kalyan Singh or if Kalyan Singh can overpower. We will have to wait and see why all this is happening. But one thing is sure: the honest BJP workers are really sad inside,” Congress leader Pramod Tiwari has said, according to news agency ANI.

Amid the buzz, Keshav Prasad Maurya met the BJP’s national president JP Nadda in Delhi on Tuesday, as the party prepares a strategy ahead of the bypolls to 10 assembly seats in the state. The meeting comes on the back of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc’s stunning performance in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha elections.

Furthermore, the INDIA alliance strengthened its position with another impressive showing in the recent bypolls to 13 assembly seats in 7 states, in which the BJP managed to win only two seats while the Opposition secured victory in 10 constituencies.

BJP’s UP chief Bhupendra Chaudhry also met Nadda in the national capital, separately.

The Election Commission of India is yet to announce the schedule for the bypolls to 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh.
