The King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has won the 2018 Crystal Award from India. The superstar was honored with this award for his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India. Shah Rukh has been running his NGO– Meer Foundation– which works for providing justice to female victims of acid attack. After being conferred with the Crystal Award, Shah Rukh Khan took to micro-blogging site Twitter and thanked for the award. “Thank u for this honour. I consider my work with these heroic & beautiful women a great privilege as it imparts dignity & purpose to my life. I hope to spread awareness of the unparalleled heroism of these ladies & reach out to others in order to carry this work to its conclusion, ” he tweeted.
Khan said “With victims of acid attacks I have had the privilege to witness the unparalleled courage and compassion that women are capable of. I have seen the transformative strength of goodness and the healing power of gentleness, ” as per moderndiplomacy.eu.

The two others who received the award are Actor Cate Blanchett and musician Elton John. Blanchett, Australian actress and theatre director, has received the award for her leadership in raising awareness of the refugee crisis which John got it for his leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
