Several schools in Delhi received bomb threats in Delhi on Tuesday, marking the second such incident this week and the fifth in just nine days in the national capital, officials reported. Approximately 20 schools, including DPS RK Puram, had received threatening emails on Monday, December 16.
An official from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) stated that a bomb threat call was made from Crescent Public School in Saraswati Vihar, located in northwest Delhi. Fire department personnel, local police, bomb detection teams, and dog squads conducted thorough searches, but nothing suspicious has been found so far.
Other schools have also received similar threat emails, with ongoing checks, the official added.
Meanwhile, schools in Delhi-NCR switched to a hybrid mode of teaching on Tuesday following the re-imposition of anti-pollution measures under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). As per the revised guidelines, classes for students in grades 6-9 and 11 across Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddh Nagar are required to be conducted in hybrid mode (physical and online). However, students in grades 10 and 12 must attend school in person.
On December 14, eight schools, including DPS RK Puram, had also received a similar email threatening explosions using “bomb vests.” Earlier, on December 13, around 30 schools were targeted with bomb threats via email, prompting extensive searches. At least 44 schools had received similar threats on December 9.
The Delhi Police Special Cell has registered an FIR in connection with the threat mail to 44 schools and launched an investigation.
