Lok Sabha security breach news: In a major security breach in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday afternoon, two men posing as visitors jumped from the gallery into the chamber and tried to run to the Well. They took out gas canisters from the shoes and opened it, which emanated colourful gas in the chamber.

Footage from the Lower House of the incident, which took place at 1.02 pm, showed one man, wearing a dark blue shirt, jumping from the visitor’s gallery and leaping across desks to evade capture, while the second man was behind him and opened a colourful smoke canister. Both men were overpowered by MPs and security staff.

Both the Houses were adjourned after the breach and all the MPs were escorted out. The two men were held by the Parliament security and are being investigated. Members present inside the Lok Sabha, told the media that the men were chanting slogans such as ‘tana shahi nahi chalegi’ (dictatorship won’t be accepted) when they barged into the chamber, Indian Express reported.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who was in the Lower House when the breach took place, said two people jumped from the public gallery into the chamber and were overpowered by the members, ANI reported.

MP Danish Ali claimed that one of the arrested person’s name was Sagar Sharma and upon checking him, a visitors’ pass was found which was signed off by Mysore MP Pratap Simha’s office, PTI reported.
BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal, who was in the Chair, said that he saw one person falling from the visitors’ gallery, and simultaneously, another man was jumping on the desks. “One of them took something out of his shoes that was emitting smoke. The security personnel caught them, and it remains to seen who they are, what was their objective and what organisation are they associated with,” he added.
Smoke canisters were also opened outside the Parliament. The Delhi Police detained two protestors, a man and a woman, from in front of the Transport Bhawan for opening colour smoke canisters.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the preliminary investigation suggests that the smoke was not dangerous. “Lok Sabha security is investigating the breach and necessary directions have also been issued to the Delhi Police,” Om Birla said as the Lok Sabha reconvened after the security breach at 2 pm.
The incident comes on the day when the nation is observing 22 years of the Parliament attack which took place on December 13, 2001, during which armed terrorists stormed the Parliament building.
