Saif Ali Khan medical report: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan sustained multiple stab wounds—on his back, wrist, neck, shoulder, and elbow—during an attempted burglary at his Mumbai home on January 16. His medical evaluation indicates that the injuries vary in size from 0.5 cm to 15 cm. It has been confirmed that Khan was transported to Lilavati Hospital by his close associate, Afsar Zaidi, in an autorickshaw, dispelling earlier uncertainties about his companion that night.
Details of the Attack and Arrest of the Suspect
The incident, which took place late at night, left the actor in a critical condition. His alleged attacker, Sariful Islam, a Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally last year under the alias Bijoy Das, was apprehended by Mumbai Police after an intense three-day manhunt. The arrest took place in Thane, with the operation involving at least 20 police teams.
During the early hours of January 16, Shariful unlawfully entered Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence and inflicted multiple stab wounds, one of which left a 2.5-inch knife tip embedded near his mid-spine, resulting in spinal fluid leakage. While experts believe an attempted murder charge could have been warranted due to the severity of the injury, police maintained that their charges were based on the medico-legal report provided by Lilavati Hospital shortly after Khan was admitted in a severely injured state.
The hospital report, documented at 4:11 am—nearly an hour after Khan’s arrival—records several lacerations and abrasions but does not mention the critical spinal wound that later required emergency surgery.
Saif Ali Khan’s Recovery and Security Measures
After spending a few days under medical supervision, the 54-year-old actor, known for his work in over 70 films and webseries, was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. In response to the incident, Mumbai Police have taken steps to enhance security around Saif’s residence in Bandra. “We have provided temporary police protection outside Saif Ali Khan’s Satguru Sharan building in Bandra West. Two constables from Bandra police station will be posted in shifts,” said a senior police official. Additionally, CCTV cameras and window grills have been installed to bolster security.
Saif Ali Khan has expressed deep gratitude towards autorickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana, who transported him to the hospital on the night of the attack. Rana, who resides in a one-room flat in Khar with four roommates, declined to disclose the monetary compensation he received from the actor, citing his promise to Khan. “Let people say he gave me Rs 50,000 or Rs 1,00,000, but I would not like to reveal the amount. Whatever it is, it is between him and me,” he said.
The incident has sparked conversations about celebrity security and illegal immigration, prompting calls for stricter regulations and vigilance.
