Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player Yash Dayal has been booked for rape after a woman from Ghaziabad accused him of emotionally, mentally, and physically exploiting her under the pretext of marriage, according to the police. The 27-year-old cricketer was named in an FIR days after the woman filed a complaint through the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s online grievance portal on June 21.

The woman has claimed in her complain that she had been in a relationship with Dayal for five years. She alleged that he repeatedly engaged in physical relations with her after promising marriage and even introduced her to his family, who assured her that she would be accepted as their daughter-in-law. She said she remained committed to the relationship, believing in those assurances.

The woman further told police that the continued emotional stress caused her to fall into depression. She revealed that she had sought medical help and, at times, even attempted suicide due to the emotional pain. She also alleged that Dayal’s involvement with other women added to her mental suffering and left her feeling betrayed and broken.

Despite efforts to get a response from the Indian Premier League player, Dayal has not issued any public statement regarding the allegations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans-Hindon), Ghaziabad, Patil Nimish Dasharath, confirmed that Dayal has given a statement to the police. A case has been registered under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to sexual intercourse obtained through deceit, including false promises of marriage. The investigation is currently ongoing.
