We all know what two things describe Bangaluru at its best: crazy traffic and India’s IT hub. But there is one more thing that always makes the news, and that is the poor housing facilities that everyone faces in Bangaluru. Social media platforms like Reddit and X are the best places where you can see people ranting. Recently, a photo surfaced on X, formerly called Twitter, which people are calling ‘peak Bangaluru moments’.
The photo raises various questions about the housing facilities in the city, and people are forced to comply with them because of the lack of options available to them. The photo showed a picture of a bed ramped in a room of exactly the same size as the bed, leaving no area for free movement or space. The photo is a screenshot of a room listing on a room-renting website, No Broker, and the landlord is seen demanding Rs. 12,000 for the bare room.
As expected, people on the internet reacted and showed their dissatisfaction with this harsh reality. The photo surfaced by @saiyaa with the caption, “A room for bed is a bedroom. WTF Bangalore. What the hell? Why? 12k for this shit, and there’ll be some dumbfuck who’d actually pay.”
Scrolling down, we found hundreds of people reacting hilariously to the situation, as one user said, “This is a toilet converted into a bedroom.” Another user compared the room with hostel rooms, saying the latter is still better. The user said, “Hostels are far better than this, and many charge around $5,000 and offer other amenities.”
The following Reddit post was made by a third user: “A luxurious 1RK with a state-of-the-art air vent to vent your feelings and unwind after a long day of work.” A few users provided an alternative viewpoint. Someone posted, “This just looks like a poorly designed apartment, but nowhere near an issue like the OP is trying to make it out to be.”
A different user said, “If it is fully furnished like that and the rent and deposit are as stated (which is never going to be the case), then this is a normal deal, considering Mahadevpura is one of the more expensive localities.” However, the ad on the No Broker app reveals that the apartment also includes a bathroom, a small kitchen with a gas stove, and modest cabinets.
