Rajnandgaon Constituency Election Result 2023: BJP’s Dr Raman Singh from Rajnandgaon has registered a stupendous victory against INC’s Girish Dewangan. Singh gathered 102499 votes while Dewangan could gather only 57415 votes. Singh won with a margin of 45084 votes. Rajnandgaon is one of the 90 Legislative Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh and has been dominated by the BJP since 2008. Singh has been a three-time Chief Minister (from 2003-2013), who has been elected as an MLA for six terms. Singh has had a stronghold over this constituency for years now. Giris Devangan, the Chairman of the State Mineral Development Corporation and a key member of CM Baghel’s team was the chosen candidate for this seat from the Congress party. In the 2018 Assembly elections, Congress had nominated Karuna Shukla, a former BJP member who joined their ranks. Shukla, however, was defeated by Singh with a margin of 16,933 votes.
In 2018, Raman Singh emerged victorious in the election with a total of 80,589 votes. He secured the win by defeating Karuna Shukla of the Indian National Congress, who garnered 63,656 votes. The winning margin amounted to 16,933 votes. During the 2013 Chhattisgarh Assembly election, Singh emerged victorious in the Rajnandgaon seat with a total of 86,797 votes. His triumph came as he defeated the Indian National Congress candidate, Alka Uday Mudliyar, who secured 50,931 votes. The third position was claimed by Independent candidate Vijay Pandey. In the 2008 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, Raman Singh of the BJP emerged victorious in the Rajnandgaon constituency, securing a total of 77,230 votes. Udai Mudliyar of the INC received 44,841 votes. The margin of victory for Singh was 32,389 votes.

BJP's Dr Raman Singh is forging ahead in this constituency with 60731 votes, as per the latest numbers shared by the official website of ECI.
Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday attributed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) lead in the Assembly election trends to the people’s faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s works and guarantees. “The people of the state have shown faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s works and guarantees. The PM, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda gave sufficient time (for electioneering) in Chhattisgarh,” Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.
“The people have shown faith in Modi’s guarantees and not Baghel’s promises, which is evident in the trends,” he added.

In Rajnandgaon, ex-Chief Minister Raman Singh is currently ahead by 42,253 votes over Girish Dewangan of the Congress, the chairman of the state Mineral Development Corporation, who was recently subjected to raids by the ED. Raman Singh, the longest-serving Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, held the position from the inaugural Assembly election in 2003 until 2018.
