The central government on Thursday announced a pan-India half-day holiday for government offices on the occasion of the Ram Temple ‘pran pratishtha’ (consecration) ceremony on Monday, January 22.

According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, “To enable the employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all Central Government Offices, Central Institutions and Central Industrial Establishments throughout India will be closed for half day till 1430 hours on January 22.”

Offices will be closed till 2.30 pm in the afternoon on Monday so that the government employees are able to take part in the celebrations.

Apart from government offices, several states, including Uttar Pradesh and Goa, have announced public holidays to celebrate the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Ram Temple inauguration

The temple town of Ayodhya is abuzz with preparations for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Yogi Adityanath and other special invitees, will attend the mega ceremony.

Over 7,000 people are on the invitee list of the temple trust, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, including politicians, Bollywood celebrities, cricketers, industrialists and more.
