A worker lost his life, and two others sustained injuries when a section of an under-construction tunnel, part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, collapsed in Kota district late Saturday night.
The incident occurred in the Modak area of Ramganj Mandi, according to Superintendent of Police (SP), Kota Rural, Sujit Shankar. Emergency rescue operations were initiated immediately, and the trapped workers were pulled from the debris and taken to a nearby hospital.
Shamsher Singh (33), one of the workers, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The two injured workers are currently undergoing treatment, SP Shankar confirmed.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the police reached the site following the collapse. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident, which has raised concerns about safety measures at the construction site.
