Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023 Exit Polls Highlights: Will it be the end of ‘rivaaj’ in Rajasthan this year? Can Ashok Gehlot beat anti-incumbency to retain office? Who will be the choice for CM face for BJP and the Congress? The answers to all these questions will be revealed on December 3 when the results of Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023 are declared. Ahead of the counting of the votes on Sunday, several media houses and independent agencies announce the exit poll results today. While the accuracy of the exit polls has always been a point of debate, the outcome of such surveys do provide talking points to all political parties and commentators. The exit polls also help in understanding the past voting patterns in particular constituencies and general overall trend.
According to exit polls conducted by agencies such as Jan ki Baat, TV9 Bharatvarsha-Polstrat, Times Now ETG, P-Marq, Republic-MATRIZE, Dainik Bhaskar and APB-CVoter, the BJP seems to be holding a significant edge in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan, which has oscillated between the Congress and the BJP since 1998 saw a robust voter turnout of 75 per cent. Barring stray incidents of violence in Deeg and Sikar’s Fatehpur, the polling remained peaceful.
Congress remains confident of bucking the trend with Ashok Gehlot showing immense faith in his ‘seven guarantees’. The 72-year-old, who enjoys immense people connect, is betting on a roaring comeback despite the in-fighting and BJP’s sharp ‘red diary’ attacks. In case Gehlot breaks the revolving door ‘rivaaj’ this year, this will be his fourth stint as Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
On the other hand, the BJP is banking totally on PM Narendra Modi’s magic. The high-decibel campaign saw PM Modi leading the party’s campaign with two mega roadshows and 14 public rallies covering around 104 seats. Other star campaigners include top Union ministers. PM Modi stayed in Rajasthan for eight days to know the mood of the voters. It would be interesting to see how BJP solves the Vasundhara Raje puzzle whom the BJP stopped short of naming as its chief ministerial candidate. Rashtriya Loktantrik Party and Bhartiya Adivasi Party can also spring a surprise in the Jatland and tribal belt.

The original programme of the Election Commission had scheduled Rajasthan's polling day on November 23. However, due to several thousand weddings in the state, the poll panel decided to postpone the elections and finally Rajasthan voted in single phase on November 25.
Since Telangana election is ongoing, the poll panel says that the exit surveys can't be aired before 6:30 pm
Since 1998, Rajasthan has always voted the incumbent out of power. The BJP feels that the trend will continue.
Ashok Gehlot is not only confident about Congress coming back to power in Rajasthan but other states as well. During a media interaction, Gehlot said that it will be 5-0 for Congress vs BJP contest.
There have been times when the exit polls have got it wrong. In 2018, the Republic - Jan Ki Baat exit poll had predicted a hung Assembly in Rajasthan. Republic - Jan Ki Baat exit poll had said that while the Congress will win 91 seats, the BJP was predicted to bag 93 seats. Independent candidates were predicted to win 15 seats. This exit poll was way off the mark.
Exit polls are the surveys that can predict the mood of the voters, well almost. The track record of some exit polls have been remarkably good.
For example, CSDS- ABP exit poll survey had rightly predicted the outcome of Rajasthan Assembly Election 2018. It had given absoulute majority to the Congress with 101 seats. The BJP, on the other hand, was predicted to win 83 seats. The CSDS-ABP exit poll turned out to be correct with the Congress winning 100 seats.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has said that it doesn't matter what the exit polls say, the Congress is on its way to form government in the state once again.
