In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has exceeded his mother and former Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s 2019 victory margin from UP’s Rae Bareli constituency. Currently, he is leading by 227,535 votes against his nearest rival, Dinesh Pratap Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi secured victory in the constituency by a margin of 167,178 votes against Dinesh Pratap Singh.
Rahul Gandhi had previously represented the Amethi Lok Sabha seat from 2004 to 2019.
He has maintained a lead over the BJP candidate since the commencement of the counting process.
After representing Amethi from 2004 to 2019, Rahul Gandhi chose to contest from Rae Bareli in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Rae Bareli is traditionally considered a stronghold of the Gandhi family. In the previous election in 2019, Sonia Gandhi, then Congress chief, emerged victorious from Rae Bareli.
However, in the 2019 election, he faced defeat to the BJP’s Smriti Irani in Amethi but was successfully elected to the Lok Sabha from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency.
