Aman Arora, the Punjab Minister for New and Renewable Energy, has been appointed as the new president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, replacing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The announcement was made by the party on Thursday. Alongside Arora, MLA Amansher Singh Shairi Kalsi has been named as the state’s new working president.
In a post on social media, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed confidence in his colleagues, saying, “Today, I have handed over the responsibility of the party president to two of my close colleagues, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and MLA Amansher Singh Shairi Kalsi. I have full faith in both of them, and I believe they will strengthen the party and take it to new heights in Punjab.”
Arora, in his gratitude for the new role, expressed his thanks to the party leadership headed by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. He said, “This is a great honor, and I assure the party leadership that we will work tirelessly to take the government’s work to the people, while also bringing the people’s issues to the government for resolution.”
In another development, Arvind Kejriwal has launched a campaign called “Revdi Par Charcha” to boast of welfare schemes by the AAP government and to take a dig at BJP on eve of the Delhi Assembly elections. The party announced that it will hold 65,000 meetings across Delhi to hand over six pamphlets which will have the roadmap of the welfare initiatives.
Kejriwal claimed that all these would be at risk if the BJP comes to power. He also listed various benefits provided by the AAP government, such as free electricity with no power cuts, free water supply, free to high-quality education in government schools, healthcare in mohalla clinics, free travel for women in buses, and free pilgrimage for senior citizens. He added that all these facilities are not available in the BJP-ruled states and said that bringing in BJPs with vote would only result in power cuts and increased utility bills.
