A married woman was allegedly gang-raped by a man along with three other family members after her brother eloped with the accused family’s daughter, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place in Ludhiana, Punjab, where a family committed the crime in revenge for what they saw as humiliation after their daughter eloped with the victim’s brother. Although the crime took place May 1, the victim was too traumatised to report it for a long time.

According to police, the accused hails from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and allegedly recorded the act on their mobile phones.
The victim approached the police to file a complaint only after she had recovered and stabilized from the trauma of the alleged gangrape, they added.

A case has been registered at Tibba Road Police Station against four accused — Ravinder Singh, his brother Varinder Singh, son Aman Singh, and an associate, Santosh Singh, according to police.
In her complaint, the victim stated that her brother and Ravinder Singh’s daughter had eloped in April. On May 1, the four men came to her house looking for the couple. When they couldn’t find them, the accused allegedly intimidated the victim and gang-raped her in retaliation.
The complainant also said the men threatened to upload the video on social media if she reported the incident. The victim, a mother of two, eventually came forward, police said.
