Pune police have arrested two additional individuals in connection with the alleged tampering of blood samples in the Porsche car crash case, bringing the total number of arrests to nine, a top official confirmed on Tuesday (August 20).

The new arrests were made late Monday night. According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the latest suspects are involved in the alleged swapping of blood samples between two minors who were in the car with the juvenile accused and the two newly arrested individuals, one of whom is the father of a minor.

“The blood samples of two minors who were with the juvenile accused in the car, were swapped with those of these two persons, who include a father of a minor,” Pune Police Commissioner said.

The crash occurred in the early hours of May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area when the high-end car, allegedly driven by the minor under the influence of alcohol, struck and killed two motorbike-borne IT professionals, including a woman. The minor’s father is a well-known builder.

Earlier arrests include the boy’s parents, Dr. Ajay Taware (former HOD of forensic medicine), Dr. Shrihari Halnor, and Atul Ghatkamble, a Sassoon Hospital staffer, for allegedly swapping the minor’s blood samples with his mother’s.

Two other individuals, Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad, were arrested for acting as intermediaries to facilitate financial transactions related to the sample tampering.

The Pune police have recently filed a 900-page chargesheet against the seven previously arrested suspects.
