A 23-year-old engineer working with Atlas Copco in Pune’s Hinjewadi, died by suicide on Monday morning, police said. The deceased was identified as Piyush Ashok Kawade. He was a native of Nashik and had joined the company last year in July.
According to Pimpri Chinchwad police, Kawade attended work as usual but left a meeting around 10 am, citing chest pain. Shortly afterward, he allegedly took his own life within the company premises by jumping from the seventh floor.
Case of accidental death registered
A suicide note was recovered from the scene. “The deceased stated in his suicide note that he failed in his life,” said senior police inspector Balaji Pandhare. The police further added that further investigation is underway.
Police were informed of the incident and a team from the Hinjewadi police station reached the site for preliminary inquiry. Kawade’s family has been notified and a postmortem examination has been completed. A case of accidental death has been registered.
