Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has stressed on the vote theft allegations in Aland in the state, adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) now stands exposed “beyond or aspersions”. Sharing news reports on the chargesheet submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the state. He emphasised that the SIT has named “former Aland BJP MLA and his son as the main accused”.

He claimed that SIT document suggest the operation was priced Rs 80/voter.

In a post on X, Kharge said, “The BJP’s #VoteChori factory in Aland now stands fully exposed beyond doubt or aspersions. The Karnataka SIT has filed its chargesheet naming former Aland BJP MLA and his son as the main accused.”

He alleged that after 2.5 years and despite the “Election Commission roadblocking the investigation at every stage and refusing to share the information needed for a proper probe”, the SIT managed to uncovered the truth.

What all has the SIT alleged?

According to the minister, the 22,000 page chargesheet has exposed an entire operation that was made through data operators, “fake SIM cards, fraud OTP platforms and forged logins to delete 5,994 voters in Aland”.

“The factory rate was Rs 80 per voter. That is how cheaply the BJP values our democratic right,” he added. He said the saffron party ducked the conversations in Parliament, but still, the “truth will prevail. We will expose their vote chori factories”.

Meanwhile, commenting on the case, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that alleged vote theft in the Aland Assembly constituency was genuine. He added that a concrete action had been initiated with the filing of a charge sheet against former BJP MLA Subhash Guttedar.

“Vote theft in Aland is true. A charge sheet has been filed against BJP leader Subhash Guttedar based on the investigation. Our MLAs will also raise this issue in the Assembly session on Monday,” he said while speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, quoted ANI.

On the contents of the charge sheet, the Deputy CM said, “I will speak in detail after receiving a complete report on this aspect.”
