Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent personalised letters to the BJP candidates contesting in constituencies slated for voting in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 7. In these letters, he has urged them to actively raise awareness amongst voters about the Congress and its INDIA bloc partners’ alleged “divisive” and “discriminatory” intentions.
The letter begins by addressing specific details about the candidate it is meant for, while the election message remains identical in each. The aim is to caution voters against the alleged plan to “snatch” reservation benefits for SC, ST, and OBC communities and allocate them to “their vote bank.” PM Modi emphasised that granting “reservation on religious grounds is unconstitutional.”
During a speech in Banswara, Rajasthan, on April 21, the prime minister expressed concerns that if the Congress comes to power, it might distribute the nation’s wealth among “infiltrators” and “those who have more children,” specifically referring to Muslims.
Not a ‘usual’ election
In his letters, Modi underscored that this election is not “usual” and holds immense significance for the future of the country. He stated the need to liberate people from the “pains” inflicted by decades of Congress rule. Modi reiterated that this election is crucial for realising the vision of a developed India by 2047, and there is noticeable enthusiasm among the people for this vision.
“I am aware of the problems being faced by people due to the heat. But since this election is important for the future of the country, I appeal to them to cast their vote early in the morning, before the heat rises,” PM Modi said.
“It is important that our party workers encourage voters to come out and vote in large numbers. They should focus on winning their booths. To win a Parliamentary seat, it is necessary that we should try to win in every booth,” the letter stated.
‘Modi ka pal pal deshwasiyon ke naam hai’
Modi concludes the letter by stating, “meri or se sabhi matdataon ko aap guarantee dena ki Modi ka pal pal deshwasiyon ke naam hai” (On my behalf, give a guarantee to all voters that each moment of Modi’s life is dedicated to the people of the country). Just above his signature is a punchline: ‘Modi ki guarantee hai 24×7 for 2047’.
Sources within the BJP revealed that candidates received similar messages during the earlier two phases, and these messages will continue as the election progresses.
