Seven multi-party delegations formed in the wake of Operation Sindoor retuned to India this week after an elaborate itinerary that took them around the globe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the senior politicians on Tuesday evening — “lauding their efforts and sharing his vision for enhancing the stature of India on the world stage”. Four of these groups were led by MPs from the ruling alliance while three were helmed by politicians from the Opposition.

“Met members of the various delegations who represented India in different countries and elaborated on India’s commitment to peace and the need to eradicate the menace of terrorism. We are all proud of the manner in which they put forward India’s voice,” the PM wrote on X while sharing a group photo.

Former parliamentarians and ex-diplomats were also part of these delegations that visited 33 foreign capitals and the European Union. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has already met the delegations and lauded their efforts in conveying India’s strong stand against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

The government had sent teams to portray a message of national unity in the fight against terrorism, with the likes of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi joining the ruling alliance members in championing the Indian cause abroad. Prominent former parliamentarians in the delegations included ex-Union ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Salman Khurshid. Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde revealed that the delegates had spent nearly an hour interacting with the PM on Tuesday evening. The Central government has already praised the work of the seven delegations comprising over 50 persons, mostly current MPs.

“The PM interacted with members of all seven delegations. He gave one hour to all the delegations. The members of the delegations shared their experiences with him. All delegations said that if such engagements continue, it would benefit the country. All countries appreciated the message of zero tolerance towards terrorism,” said Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde

“We are all grateful for the opportunity to be of service to the nation, Pradhan Mantri ji Narendra Modi! Jai Hind,” added Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who led the delegation to the Americas.

“We shared our experience with the PM, which he listened to carefully,” said Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi.
