Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Kuwait’s highest civilian award, the “Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer,” during his official visit to the Gulf nation. The award, given by the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, is reserved for Heads of State, foreign leaders, and members of royal families.

As part of his visit, PM Modi met with Sheikh Meshal at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait. The two leaders had important discussions on strengthening the relationship between India and Kuwait. According to the Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, their talks focused on taking India-Kuwait ties to new heights and establishing a “Strategic Partnership.” PM Modi also thanked Amir for supporting the large Indian community living and working in Kuwait.

In a post on platform X, Jaiswal called the meeting a “significant step forward” and said it marked the elevation of India-Kuwait relations to a “Strategic Partnership.” He added that PM Modi’s talks with Kuwait’s leaders, including the Amir, the Crown Prince, and the Prime Minister, were extensive and fruitful. This visit was particularly historic as it was the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years.

PM Modi received a grand welcome in Kuwait, starting with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Bayan Palace. He was greeted by Kuwait’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, along with other top officials. The warm reception showed the importance Kuwait placed on this visit.

During his trip, PM Modi visited Indian workers at the Gulf Spic Labour Camp. He praised their hard work and contributions to Kuwait’s development and spoke about their dreams and aspirations. He connected their efforts with his vision for India’s future, known as “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The Indian community in Kuwait expressed great excitement about the visit. Many eagerly looked forward to the “Hala Modi” community event, held at the Shaikh Saad Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex, where the Prime Minister addressed the diaspora.
