Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the recently concluded Maha Kumbh as a ‘’mahayagna of unity’’, representing India’s newfound self-confidence and collective consciousness. Writing in a blog, he highlighted that India should march forward with the same spirit to achieve ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India.)
The Maha Kumbh saw an unprecedented 65 crores devotees, surpassing all previous estimates. ‘’More devotees took the holy dip in the Sangam than ever imagined,” Modi remarked, terming it a historic moment that will shape the nation’s future. While the event was a huge success, a tragic stampede took 30 lives.
A historic religious gathering
The Prime Minister also asked forgiveness from the holy rivers-Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati-as well to the devotees for any shortcomings that have taken place in the services provided. He also accepted the vast challenge of managing such a big gathering but hailed the collective efforts that ensured smooth execution.
The Uttar Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath played an essential role in ensuring the success of the event. ‘’As a MP of Uttar Pradesh , I feel proud of how the government, administration and local people came together,’’ Modi remarked.
Seamless execution of services
In order to make the festival seamless, police, drivers, cooks, sanitation workers and boatmen worked tirelessly. The residents of Prayagraj also played a vital contribution by welcoming the devotees with devotion.
This Maha Kumbh observed after 144 years has now become a case study for management and policy experts because of its enormous scale. Modi highlighted how people from all fields of life, regions and even from abroad participated with a sense of unity.
A noteworthy aspect was the large presence of young devotees. ‘’Seeing the younger generation participate assures me they carriers of our values,’’ Modi stated.
Reflecting on the tradition, he recollected how Nishad Raj, the boatmen king met Lord Ram near this sacred convergence. He reasserted his commitment towards river cleanliness, recognising its spiritual and environmental importance.
The Maha Kumbh was not just a spiritual gathering rather it was a powerful symbol of unity and faith.
