PM Modi Bihar Visit Today LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached poll-bound Bihar today where he launched multiple projects worth nearly Rs 36,000 crore. This is PM’s seventh trip to Bihar this year, and from what it seems, the perfect time to strengthen the BJP-led NDA’s prospects in the state via campaign outreach and of course, coalition management. The PM addressed a large public rally at Shishabari village today where people from all over Purnea, Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj among other districts were present.
PM Modi to meet Nitish Kumar? Coalition dynamics
PM Modi’s visit also gives him a chance to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which not only will help show unity within the NDA, but can also be an opportunity to discuss seat-sharing, a key factor in Bihar’s complex coalition politics.
PM opens Purnea Airport
The Purnea airport is the to be the third airport in Bihar, after Patna and Darbhanga. People from Seemanchal districts of Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj, and Katihar, besides Bhagalpur, will benefit from this airport . The PM also inaugurated the Interim Terminal Building at the New Civil Enclave of Purnea Airport. The new facility will enhance passenger handling capacity and improve regional air connectivity, which has been a long-standing demand of the people of Seemanchal.
Rail Connectivity and New Trains
Railways remain a key focus of the visit. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Bikramshila–Katareah rail line across the Ganga, worth over Rs 2,170 crore. He also inaugurated the Araria–Galgalia (Thakurganj) rail line, worth Rs 4,410 crore, and flag off new train services.
These include the Vande Bharat Express between Jogbani and Danapur, Amrit Bharat Express trains between Saharsa–Chheharta (Amritsar) and Jogbani–Erode, as well as a passenger service connecting Araria and Kishanganj. These services will improve travel speed, facilities, and regional connectivity.
Boost for Makhana Farmers
One of the major highlights of the visit will be the launch of the National Makhana Board in Bihar. The Board aims to promote production, improve post-harvest management, encourage value addition, and support branding and export. With Bihar producing nearly 90% of India’s total makhana, this initiative is expected to directly benefit farmers in the state and across the country.
Power and River Link Projects
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for Bihar’s largest private sector investment, a 3×800 MW thermal power project at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur, worth Rs 25,000 crore. This project is expected to meet the growing energy demands of the state.
He will also launch the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project (Phase 1), worth over ₹2,680 crore. The project will upgrade canals, repair damaged structures, and increase water discharge capacity, improving irrigation and flood management in the region.
