Ganesh Chaturthi, a major Hindu festival, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. This 10-day festival, which commenced recently, will conclude on Anantha Chaturdashi. Also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi, this festival honours Lord Ganesha, revered as the deity of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles.

Devotees across India and abroad participate in the celebrations, worshipping Lord Ganesha for his wisdom and intelligence. Homes and public spaces, or pandals, are adorned with elaborate decorations. The festival is marked by fervent prayers, music, and festive chants. Streets come alive with processions and traditional rituals, while families prepare a variety of offerings, including modaks, a sweet believed to be a favourite of Lord Ganesha.

Ganesh Chaturthi fosters a sense of unity and devotion, as communities come together to celebrate. The final day, Anantha Chaturdashi, is marked by the grand immersion of Lord Ganesha’s idols into water bodies, symbolising the cycle of birth and rebirth, with devotees bidding a fond farewell to their beloved deity, hoping for his return the next year.
