Congress MP Manish Tewari on Friday said that the government should take Air India back from the Tata Group and slammed the group for mismanagement. Tewari said that the cancellation of flights without any prior notice has been causing inconvenience to flyers. “Flights cancelled at the drop of a hat , flights delayed without any explanation whatsoever,” Tewari posted on X. Recently, an Air India Express flight from Hindon airport faced a 19-hour delay.
Government of India should take @airindia back from the @TataCompanies . They have run the airline into the ground.

Air India management mess?
In an X post, Tewari tagged Air India, Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and DGCA and said Tata “has run the airline into the ground”. Since the deadly crash in Ahmedabad in June, the airline has been facing sharp criticism from all over.
The Congress leader also cited his sources of professionals flying the aircraft for the company, highlighting the issue of non-competent management running the airlines. He wrote, “The Pilots and the crew tell me that people who grow Tea in Tata Tea, make steel in Tata Steel, make cars in Tata Motors are running @airindia.”
Further in his post, Tewari said, “The Airline is a complete management mess.” He added about the management crisis at the airlines by saying that, “There are hardly any competent aviation professionals running @airindia.” At the end, he wrote a concluding remark about the privatisation of the airline not coming as a decent idea and said, “The Privatisation has been a disaster.”
Privatisation of Air India
Air India has completed more than three years with the Tata group, as it won the bid for Air India in October 2021 and took over the airline in January 2022. The step was taken to privatise the airline as it was a continuous loss-making PSU for the government. After they took over, the airlines saw the major contracts of adding a fleet of aircraft with the hope of its revival with the new logo as a fresh start.
