Monsoon Session

The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on July 21 and was adjourned sine die on August 21. It spanned 32 days and comprised 21 sittings.

During the session, 14 Bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha. Of these, 12 were passed by the Lok Sabha and 15 by the Rajya Sabha, with a total of 15 Bills receiving approval from both Houses. One Bill was withdrawn in the Lok Sabha.

Both Houses also held a special discussion on Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. Another discussion on “India’s First Astronaut aboard the International Space Station: The Critical Role of the Space Programme in Viksit Bharat 2047” was initiated in the Lok Sabha but remained incomplete due to repeated disruptions.

Frequent disruptions marred the session, bringing productivity down to around 31 per cent in the Lok Sabha and 39 per cent in the Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha managed only 37 hours of discussion out of 120 available hours, while the Rajya Sabha recorded 41 hours and 15 minutes of debate.
