India has reacted strongly to the recent nuclear threat remarks made by Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir from US soil. In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan’s stock-in-trade.”

India further asked the international community to “draw its own conclusions on the irresponsibility inherent in such remarks”. The MEA further said, “[Munir’s remarks] also reinforce the well-held doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups.”

A report by ThePrint on Sunday revealed that during a recent US visit, Munir issued threats to nuke India and “half of the world” if the nation felt its existence is in danger. The Pakistani army chief’s remarks are reportedly the first such issued against a third country from US soil. India raised the same in its official statement that read, “It is also regrettable that these remarks should have been made from the soil of a friendly third country.”

“India has already made it clear that it will not give in to nuclear blackmail. We will continue to take all steps necessary to safeguard our national security,” the MEA’s statement further read.
