Two terrorists were neutralised on Saturday in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district as Indian security forces continued their counter-infiltration efforts under Operation Pimple. The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the development, adding that a search of the area remains underway.
“Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation. Search of the area in progress,” the Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
The encounter began earlier this week after the Army, acting on specific intelligence inputs, launched a coordinated operation on November 7 to intercept suspected infiltrators attempting to cross the Line of Control (LoC). “On 07 Nov 2025, based on specific intelligence input from agencies, regarding infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in Keran sector of Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Contact established and terrorists trapped. Op continues,” the Chinar Corps posted earlier.
The operation remains active as troops search the dense terrain to ensure no additional infiltrators are present.
LoC remains on alert
Security forces along the LoC have been on heightened alert in recent weeks. Intelligence reports indicate that terror handlers based across the border in Pakistan are attempting to push infiltrators into Indian territory before heavy winter snowfall blocks the mountain passes leading into the Valley, news agency IANS reported.
Jammu and Kashmir shares a 740-km-long LoC with Pakistan spanning the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Jammu. While the Army guards the LoC, the region also has a 240-km International Border (IB) in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts, which is secured by the Border Security Force (BSF).
Beyond the borders, the J&K Police and security forces are conducting intensified anti-terror operations in the hinterland.
