Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia moved Supreme Court on Monday seeking modification of rider barring him from airing any show till further orders. The podcaster, with 10.4 million subscribers on Youtube, told the SC that his shows are the “only source of livelihood” for him.
Supreme Court has permitted Allahbadia to resume ‘The Ranveer Show’, subject to him furnishing an undertaking that his podcast shows will maintain the desired standards of morality and decency so that viewers of any age group can watch. The Court said he is being permitted to resume the show as the livelihood of 280 employees depends on the telecast of his show.
Opposing his plea, Solicitor general Tushar Mehta said his remarks on India’s Got Latent vulgar, perverse. “Let him remain silent for sometime,” Mehta argued in SC.
According to the court’s order, interim protection from arrest granted to Allahbadia on February 18 shall continue till further orders. The latest SC order bars Ranveer Allahbadia from talking about case in ‘The Ranveer Show’.
