A 36-year-old woman died and three others were badly injured after a tempo crashed into multiple vehicles in Pune, Maharashtra. The auto driver was drunk and the incident occurred on Sunday at 9:15 pm on Paud Road near the Kothrud area, as reported by police.

Drunk Driving incident

The driver has been recognised as 26-year-old Ashish Pawar and has been arrested. Pawar has also been charged under several sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, according to a police statement. The police also informed that the auto driver was under the influence of alcohol and was driving very rashly, hitting four to five vehicles, including many two-wheelers.

One dead, three injured

Gitanjali Amrale lost her life during the crash whereas her husband Sambhaji Amrale, along with two others-Madhuri Dahotre and Sahol Pite suffered severe injuries.

As per the statement released by the Alankar police station, the three injured persons are currently being treated in a private hospital. A probe is underway into the incident to find out more information regarding the incident.
