People in Northeast are set to benefit from new Indian Railways train services launched after the completion of North Lakhimpur-Murkongselek and Balipara-Bhalukpong sections into broad-gauge.

Indian Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu launched the service yesterday through video conferencing from New Delhi and described the occasion as a “Golden Day” in the history of Arunachal Pradesh, as per reports.

Prabhu said the state is getting second Broad Gauge connectivity with the commissioning of Balipara-Bhalukpong gauge conversion.
