Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda announced that personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in Bengaluru due to the heavy rains forecast for the city.
The minister emphasized that Fire and Emergency Services are on standby to ensure a swift response to any emergencies. “I have advised the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to remain on high alert. Currently, around 60 NDRF/SDRF personnel are deployed in the city, and an additional 40 personnel are on standby,” Gowda shared via an online post.
The Bengaluru District administration has also declared a holiday for schools on Wednesday, in light of the heavy rainfall.
Incessant rains, which began early Tuesday, have disrupted daily life across central and southern Karnataka. Several areas in Bengaluru experienced severe waterlogging and traffic congestion as a result of the downpour. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and further measures will be taken if necessary.
