Former Karnataka Chief Minister and ex-External Affairs Minister SM Krishna passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the age of 92. According to sources, Krishna passed away between 2:30 and 2:45 AM due to age-related complications.

Post his death, the former CM of Karnataka became the top trend topic. According to Google Trends, SM Krishna has become a trending topic with over 50,000 searches, witnessing a staggering 1000% surge in just three hours.

At the time of writing this report, the trend on Krishna has over 10,000 searches, having 800% surge in three hours.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, describing Krishna as “a remarkable leader admired by people from all walks of life.” “He always worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others. He is fondly remembered for his tenure as Karnataka’s Chief Minister, particularly for his focus on infrastructural development. Shri SM Krishna Ji was also a prolific reader and thinker,” PM Modi wrote on X.

Over his nearly six-decade-long political career, primarily with the Congress party, Krishna served as an MLA, MLC, and was elected multiple times to both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He held several prominent public offices, including Chief Minister, Governor, and External Affairs Minister. In 2017, Krishna joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and announced his retirement from active politics in January last year.
