The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of failing to ensure law and order in Delhi. In a post on X, AAP stated, “As long as Amit Shah remains the Home Minister, murders will continue to happen every day in Delhi.”

Earlier on Saturday, AAP’s national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also targeted Shah, alleging that the BJP is incapable of managing Delhi’s law and order situation. “Amit Shah ji has ruined Delhi. He has turned Delhi into jungle raj. People are living in fear everywhere. BJP can no longer handle the law and order situation in Delhi. The people of Delhi must unite and raise their voices,” Kejriwal posted on X.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi echoed these criticisms, holding the BJP-led central government responsible for the deteriorating safety conditions in the capital. She pointed out recent violent incidents, including the shooting of an on-duty constable and a man killed while on a morning walk in Shahdara. “The BJP-ruled central government has only one responsibility in Delhi—ensuring law and order. They have completely failed in this task,” Atishi remarked.

Atishi further alleged that the central government’s inability to manage law and order has left residents feeling unsafe. “The people of Delhi are suffering because of the total breakdown of law and order caused by the BJP-led central government. It is time they take accountability,” she added.

The remarks came amid a series of high-profile crimes in Delhi. On December 4, a man, his wife, and their daughter were fatally stabbed in their Neb Sarai home. Police investigations revealed the murders were committed by the couple’s son, who initially claimed he had been out for a morning walk. Another alarming incident occurred on November 28, when an explosion in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar prompted a response from fire tenders, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, and the Bomb Disposal Squad.
