Parts of Mumbai were hit by rain early on Tuesday morning. The past few weeks have seen a lot of rainfall in Mumbai. Because of the city’s intense rains and waterlogging, the Mumbai Police had earlier issued a warning advising people to stay away from coastal areas.
In its alert, the police advised the public to take safety precautions and only leave their houses when absolutely essential. Also supplied is number 100 in case of emergency.
Due to an earlier orange advisory from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating severe to very heavy rainfall, the Mumbai local authorities asked citizens to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. “The IMD has issued an orange alert (heavy to very heavy) for Mumbai today. People are requested to avoid going out unless necessary,” the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said in a statement.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai in a post on X, formerly Twitter, said that Mumbai recorded heavy rainfall at many places in the last 24 hours.
