BMC issues safety warning

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), informing residents about the red alert in Mumbai. The civic body has advised people to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Rainfall is expected to intensify in Palghar from Sunday and continue till August 19. IMD said the ongoing heavy rain is linked to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, near north Andhra Pradesh. This system is likely to keep Maharashtra under heavy rainfall for the next few days.
