Mumbai Police has beefed up security and increased patrolling of several areas, including Dongri, after a 23-year-old student from Ghaziabad tagged police on X (formerly Twitter) and alerted authorities of a possible  “arson attack”, “bomb blasts”, and “Hindi-Muslim riots” during Eid. The student claimed that illegal immigrants from Rohingya, Bangladesh, and Pakistan could be behind this.

Navi Mumbai Police was tagged on X by a social media user who urged the authorities to be vigilant “on March 31- April 1, 2025, during Eid, some illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani infiltrators, who stay in the areas like Dongri may incite Hindu-Muslim riots, arson and bomb blasts”.

Navi Mumbai Police responded to the post. They asked the social media user to send them their mobile number for further information. “Thank you for contacting Navi Mumbai Police; please send your mobile number for further information regarding your tweet,” the police said.

Soon after, security was tightened across the city, with increased patrolling in areas like Dongri. “Apart from Mumbai police personnel, the Crime Branch, the Anti Terrorism Squad and Special Branch are also on heightened vigil,” an official said.

The Mumbai Police official further said that no suspicious or unusual activities have been reported so far.

The same social media user also issued the same warning for Delhi. The user tagged Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Delhi Police, and UP Police on social media, adding, “Please stay alert! During Eid on 31 March -1 April 2025, some illegal Rohingya/Bangladeshi/Pakistani Muslims might cause Hindu-Muslim riots or bomb blasts in Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, and Jahangirpuri.”

The social media account that alerted both the Delhi and Mumbai police was created in April 2022. The user, who goes by the name “The Shashwat Shukla Truth Speaks,” is a 23-year-old political science student from Ghaziabad. In his X bio, he describes himself as a “real nationalist”.

India, which typically begins Ramadan a day later than the Middle East, is set to sight the crescent moon on March 30, marking the 29th day of Ramadan. Eid is expected to be celebrated on March 31 in India.
