In another shocking hit-and-run, a speeding BMW hit a couple on their bike in Worli on Sunday. The impact was so severe that the woman got dragged on the car’s bonnet for 100 meters, leading to her death and injuring her husband. The police are actively searching for the driver involved.

Police sources have revealed that the BMW is owned by a politician from Palghar, and his son, along with the driver, was in the car at the time, The Indian Express reported. The accident reportedly happened at around 5:30 am near Atria Mall.

The victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, aged 45, from Worli Koliwada, was heading home with her husband after purchasing fish from Sassoon Dock. Their scooter was struck by a speeding BMW, causing them to lose control and fall onto the car’s bonnet. Kaveri’s husband managed to jump off, but she was unable to. In a state of panic, the driver kept going, dragging Kaveri for approximately 100 meters before she was thrown onto the road.

Locals rushed her to Nair Hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her husband is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

The Worli Police have filed a case against the occupants of the BMW. The car had no number plate when it was brought to the police station. One individual has been detained, and the car seized. The zonal DCP mentioned that no arrests have been made yet, but the process of filing charges and making arrests is ongoing.

This incident comes amidst the outcry over a hit-and-run case in Pune, where a 17-year-old driving a Porsche killed two people on a motorcycle.
