The Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) convened a meeting on Friday at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi to discuss candidate selections for the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. The meeting lasted around two hours.
After the meeting, former chief minister Kamal Nath said that discussions were held for 60 seats and the screening committee will meet again before the CEC finalises the list.

“We will announce our list (of candidates) after ‘shradh’. We are moving ahead accordingly so that we could release our list (of candidates) on October 15. More the discussion it will be much better as number of new things come up,” Kamal Nath said.
Chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, the meeting was attended by key figures including party MP Rahul Gandhi, MP AICC general secretary in-charge Randeep Surjewala, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Together, they stressed the party’s commitment to securing a full majority in the state, PTI reported.

“In Madhya Pradesh, the youth, women, Dalits, tribals, and backward classes will soon receive justice. The 18 years of injustice, atrocities, and corrupt governance by the BJP will come to an end,” Kharge said in a tweet on X.
He also underscored the party’s resolve to ensure transparent governance, saying, “This time the public will not allow the formation of an undemocratic BJP government in Madhya Pradesh through the back door.”
“This time the traitors will get a befitting reply. The Congress party is moving towards a full majority,” he claimed.
The election date for Madhya Pradesh is November 17, while the results will be announced on December 3.
