Bihar Election 2025: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a Mahagathbandhan poll rally in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur on Wednesday. Gandhi said PM Modi will do “anything for votes”. Speaking alongside RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the Congress MP said the prime minister “can even dance for votes” if asked.

“If you tell Modi ji to do drama for votes, he would do it. If you tell him you’ll vote for him and ask him to dance on stage, he would dance,” Gandhi said at the rally.

The Wayanad MP also targeted the NDA government in Bihar, claiming that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is merely a “face”, while the BJP holds the “remote control”. “Three or four people control the government. BJP controls it. They have nothing to do with social justice,” Gandhi added while reiterating his demand for a caste census.

“I said in front of the Prime Minister in Parliament that you should conduct a caste census. He didn’t say a single word because the BJP is against social justice,” Gandhi said.

His remarks sparked a sharp response from the BJP. Party spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari hit back on X and said, “Rahul Gandhi speaks like a local goon. He has openly insulted every poor of India and Bihar who voted for PM Narendra Modi. He has mocked voters and Indian democracy.”

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them highly objectionable and irresponsible. Joining the chorus of condemnation, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also hit out at Rahul Gandhi, saying that such remarks tarnish India’s global image.

“By making such derogatory comments against Prime Minister Modi, Rahul Gandhi is defaming the image of the country. The leaders of the Mahagathbandhan can say anything for votes — they can defame the country, make personal attacks, or abuse anyone’s mother if it helps them politically,” Gupta said.

The rally marked Rahul Gandhi’s first major appearance in Bihar since the BJP accused him of “going missing” from the campaign trail.
