As the dust settles on the hectic buzz after the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections that saw the NDA reaching majority comfortably with 292 seats, now the focus will be on how the coalition will work. Salary of India’s Prime Minister
India’s Prime Minister is said to receive Rs 1.66 lakh per month as salary. In terms of allowances, India’s Prime Minister SPG staff. Air India One, an exclusive aircraft, is available for the Prime Minister for all his/her state visits and other official travel. Salary of India’s President
Six years ago, back in 2018, the monthly salary of India’s President, who is also the supreme commander of all three armed forces, was revised from Rs 1.50 lakh for a month to Rs 5 lakh per month. This revision of pay scale was announced by the ex-Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his Union Budget speech.
Apart from the monthly salary, President of India has following perks as well:
- The President can travel anywhere in the country free of cost via air, rail, or steamer and can bring one person along whose expenses will also be covered.
- The President will receive free medical services and attendance.
- The President is provided with a furnished rent-free home, two free landlines (one for internet connectivity), a mobile phone, and five personal staff members. The home maintenance is also covered.
- If the President dies while in office, the spouse will receive a family pension at the rate of fifty percent of the pension admissible to the retiring President for the rest of their life.
- The spouse will also receive free medical services for life.
Salary of India’s Vice-President
Apart from revision of India’s President, the pay scale of Vice-President was also hiked in 2018. Subsequently, India’s Vice-President’s salary was revised from Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 4 lakh a month.
Salary of Member of Parliament
The salary of an MP has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh per month. However, the pay scale of an MP’s salary is subject to revision after every five years and the hike is given in form of daily allowance, the rules say.
