A gunfire broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Chatergala area in Doda on Tuesday night after militants attacked a security check post manned by the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and police. Following the attack, an encounter broke out between the security personnel and militants, marking the third terror incident in the last three days.

According to Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain, the gunfire is still going on in the area.

Prior to this incident, a terrorist encounter took place in Kathua area where one militant was neutralised following an attack at a house in Saida village last evening. According to the reports, militants forcibly entered the house and demanded water. Upon seeing the militants, the father and son residing there fled, prompting the militants to open fire. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was killed during an encounter with militants.

Meanwhile, one militant in a nearby nullah was killed as the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operation Group came to the area and fought the militants. However, the operation is still in progress. Further to this, a joint operation by paramilitary forces and police is underway to nab the remaining terrorists.

Before this, terrorists attacked a bus in Reasi district on Sunday, resulting in the death of nine people and injuring over 40. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori temple to Katra.

Notably, a sketch of one of the terrorists engaged in the attack has been made public by the J&K Police, who have also declared a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information that leads to his detention. A multidirectional corden has been established around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt, and 11 teams of security personnel have been deployed to the area as part of extensive attempts to track down the terrorists, according to officials.
