Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the Ministry of Home Affairs-designated terrorist based out in the US, has issued a video message threatning to disrupt the upcoming India vs England fourth match in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi. The match is scheduled to be played from Friday. The Ranchi Police has filed an FIR against Pannun, who has repeatedly issued such threats against the Indian establishments. Last year in December, the terrorist had said that he will bomb the new building of Parliament on the December 13. Before this, he had said that he will target the Air India flights.

Meanwhile, Hatia Deputy SP PK Mishra said that an FIR has been registered against Pannun under the IT Act. As many as 1,000 personnel have been deployed in and around the JSCA International Stadium Complex. The Ben Stoke-led English squad reached the Test venue on Tuesday.

In the video, Pannun reportedly said that Ben Stokes should return to England and not play the test match. He has also ‘urged’ banned outfit CPI (Maoist) to create disruptions and force officials to call off the match. He also wants to internationalise the issue and by requesting protesters to raise slogans and Khalistani and Maoist flags.

Pannun has been under the surveillance of the National Investigation Agency since 2019. The agency’s first case against him, labeled as a “designated individual terrorist,” was registered due to his alleged involvement in spreading fear and terror in Punjab and other parts of the country through threats and intimidation tactics. On February 3, 2021, the Special NIA Court issued non-bailable warrants for Pannun’s arrest, and he was declared a “Proclaimed Offender” on November 29 of the previous year.
