In a bizarre incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh district, a man demanded half of his father’s dead body following a dispute with his brother over the last rites. The unusual situation prompted intervention by local authorities.
According to a PTI report, the incident took place on Sunday in Lidhorataal village, located around 45 km from the district headquarters. 84-year-old Dhyani Singh Ghosh, who had been suffering from a prolonged illness, passed away on Sunday.
His younger son, Deshraj, was living with him and was present at the time of his death, while his elder son, Kishan, who resided outside the village, arrived after being informed of the passing.
The situation escalated when Kishan, who was reportedly intoxicated, insisted on performing the last rites, claiming the right to do so. However, Deshraj argued that it was their father’s wish for him to handle the cremation.
The elder son then went as far as demanding that the body be cut in half, with each brother taking a portion. The heated argument between the siblings led villagers to alert the police.
Authorities quickly arrived at the scene, managing to persuade Kishan to leave, allowing the younger son to proceed with the cremation.
