Maharashtra Local Body Election Results 2025 Live: Mahayuti alliance crosses 200-seat mark, Fadnavis hails ‘victory of team BJP’

Rajendra Sonawane from the Ajit Pawar–led NCP was elected Mayor of the Lonavala Municipal Council.

In the corporator elections, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP won 16 seats. The BJP secured four seats, Independents won three seats, the Uvaat Party took one seat, and the Congress won three seats.

The council consists of 27 corporators, along with one mayor.

In Tuljapur, BJP’s Vinod Gangane was elected council president. The BJP won 18 of the 23 seats, while other parties shared the remaining five.

In Naldurg, BJP leader Basavaraj Dharne became council president. The BJP secured 10 seats, the Shinde-led Shiv Sena won one seat, and other groups won nine seats out of a total of 20.

In Umarga, Kiran Gaikwad from the Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena was elected president. His group won 12 seats, the BJP got five, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP won two, and other parties took six seats, making up a 25-member council.

In Murum, BJP’s Bapurao Patil was elected president after the party won 19 of the 20 seats.

In Kalamb, Sunanda Kapse from the Shinde-led Shiv Sena was chosen as president. In the 20-seat council, the Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena won nine seats, the BJP six, the Shinde faction four, and others one seat.

In Bhum, local alliances took charge of the council. The Alam Prabhu Bhum City Development Alliance won six seats, while the Janshakti City Development Alliance secured 14 seats in the 20-member council.

In Paranda, Zakir Saudagar from the Shinde-led Shiv Sena was elected president. His faction won eight seats, while other parties together won 12 seats in the 20-seat council.

Durgadevi Indrajit Jagdale from Ajit Pawar’s NCP won the mayoral election in the Daund Municipal Council by a margin of 4,891 votes, defeating Monali Veer. After her victory, she thanked voters for placing their trust in her and giving her the chance to serve the town. She said she would work hard to meet public expectations and remain committed to fulfilling the promises made during the campaign.

In Sangli district, the NCP (SP) registered a clean sweep in the Urun-Ishwarpur municipal council by winning 23 seats and also capturing the president’s post.

As counting continued in the Maharashtra local body elections on Sunday, the Congress and the Sharad Pawar–led NCP (SP) said they had managed to retain their strongholds in Chandrapur and Sangli districts.

Early trends, however, showed the Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, the Eknath Shinde–led Shiv Sena and the Ajit Pawar–led NCP taking the lead in many areas.

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar said the results of the municipal and city council elections declared on Thursday show wide public support for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis across the state. He said the outcomes reflect strong acceptance of Fadnavis’s leadership, under which the BJP recorded a massive win.

According to Narwekar, the party won an unusually large number of seats, finishing far ahead of all other political parties and securing more than twice the seats won by its rivals.

Urmila Madhusudan Kendre from the Ajit Pawar–led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party has been elected as the president of Gangakhed municipality. She won the municipal elections by a margin of 561 votes. Kendre defeated Nirmaladevi Gopaldas Tapadia, the candidate backed by MLA Ratnakar Gutte’s group. Urmila Kendre secured 8,395 votes, while Tapadia received 7,834 votes. BJP candidate Jayshree Ramprabhu Munde got 5,230 votes, and Congress candidate Ujma Maimun Samir Sheikh Yunus secured 5,246 votes.

The Gangakhed election drew wide attention in the district and remained in the spotlight due to sharp allegations, counter-allegations, and political criticism. Urmila Kendre is the sister of NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, who had staked his political prestige on this contest.

In a surprising result in the Uran municipal elections, NCP (SP)’s Bhavna Ghanekar emerged victorious as the council president, dealing a setback to the ruling BJP.

In Nagpur district, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ BJP achieved a strong victory in the municipal and nagar panchayat elections. Results for 15 municipalities and 12 nagar panchayats were announced on Sunday. The BJP won the mayor’s post in 12 of the 15 municipalities, while the Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP, and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) each won one municipality.

This election reinforced the BJP’s clear dominance in the district. The Mahayuti alliance and the Mahavikas Aghadi contested separately, leading to multi-party contests across most areas.

Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed confidence in Mahayuti's performance in Jalna. He said the alliance is likely to win with a large majority, as people trust both Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He added that a strong government is needed for Jalna’s development, and this support will help the BJP alliance secure victory. He also expressed certainty that the party’s mayoral candidate would win in the city.
