The Election Commission is expected to announce the polling schedule for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections on Tuesday.
The EC is likely to announce the poll schedule in a press conference, at the Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, at 3.30 pm today.

“Press Conference by Election Commission of India to announce the schedule for General Election to Legislative Assemblies of Maharashtra and Jharkhand 2024,” a statement by the poll body said.
While the term of the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly is ending on November 26, that of 81-member Jharkhand Assembly is scheduled to end on January 5 next year.
In Maharashtra, Mahayuti – an alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s faction of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) – will take on Maha Vikas Aghadu – an alliance of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s faction of Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s faction of the NCP.
Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), led by Hemant Soren, a member of the INDIA bloc, will be taking on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the BJP, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), and Janata Dal (United), in the state.
With around 50 by-polls due, the EC is also likely to also announce the election dates for those seats.
